SPC rigid core flooring
SPC stands for stone plastic composite, a rigid vinyl core made largely of limestone powder and PVC. This collection has 7 SPC and rigid core floors, five from Terra Legno and two from MSI Surfaces, all matte, in widths from 7 to 9 inches. Choose SPC when you want a sturdy vinyl that copes well with slabs, temperature swings and busy households.

Choosing spc rigid core flooring
How is SPC different from regular vinyl plank?
Flexible vinyl plank bends in your hand and follows the floor beneath it. SPC has a dense, stiff core, so it bridges small imperfections and stays more dimensionally stable as a room heats and cools. That stability is why SPC is popular for floating installs in apartments with big sunny windows or radiators that run hot all winter. Our SPC, WPC and LVT guide covers the differences.
Is SPC a good choice over a concrete slab?
It is one of the more forgiving options. The rigid core helps hide minor trowel marks and shallow dips, and every floor in this collection can float or be glued down. A stiff core is not a fix for a badly uneven slab, though. Moisture testing and flatness checks still apply, and each manufacturer sets its own limits.
Does SPC feel hard underfoot?
It is firmer than flexible vinyl and can sound a little hollow when floated without a good underlayment. Some SPC products have a pad attached; others call for a separate one. If your building has sound rules, choose an underlayment that meets them and is approved for the specific floor. See underlayment types.
Which colors are in this collection?
It is a small, distinctive group. Alongside one blonde and one dark gray from MSI, the Terra Legno line includes stone gray, gray taupe, clay gray, terracotta and a pure natural tone. The terracotta and clay shades are worth a look if you want something warmer and earthier in a kitchen or entry.
Is SPC flooring waterproof?
SPC cores do not swell with water the way wood-based cores can, which is why many are sold as waterproof. Water can still get under a floating floor at the edges, so check the product's installation instructions and warranty terms for wet rooms.
Is SPC the same as WPC?
No. WPC uses a foamed wood-plastic composite core that feels softer and a little warmer underfoot. SPC is denser and more rigid, which helps it resist dents from furniture.
Can SPC go over existing tile?
Often, if the tile is firmly bonded and flat, and the grout lines are not deep enough to show through. Some manufacturers require grout lines to be filled first, so follow the specific product's instructions.
